The admissions team welcomes over 80 participants to a virtual open day

On Saturday 25th April over 80 students, with current offers to Lucy Cavendish College, were invited to view a host of videos and online information, followed by a live Q+A with key Admissions and Tutorial members of the College, including Dr Mark King, Admissions Director, and Senior Tutor, Dr Jane Greatorex.

“We’re delighted to have had this chance to meet our offer-holders and we plan to hold another online session in a few weeks. It was great to speak to so many people and to hear how excited they are about joining our College in the next academic year.”

When visitors logged into the Open Day, they were able to view a presentation by the college President, Madeleine Atkins, welcoming everyone to Lucy Cavendish and answering important questions about life at Lucy.

Jana Sadovska also welcomed visitors as the Student Union’s President, and Sabine Matysik talked about her role as the graduate representative.

The group enjoyed a virtual tour of the college (without even the threat of rain) that took them around the beautiful gardens, into the library, the dining room, the café and even the gym. They were also able to e-meet key members of staff including the ever-popular porters and the maintenance team.

One offer holder said:

“It was very informative and reassuring for all the offer-holders. The zoom call was a great opportunity to interact with the team at Lucy Cavendish College as well as to meet my fellow offer-holders. The college already feels like home and I cannot wait to meet everyone in person.”

As the open day was completely virtual there was a very positive turnout, because offer holders didn’t have to worry about the cost and logistics of attending in person. It also meant that it was a carbon-friendly event – a great option for the future.

Following the success of the open day, further Q&As will be hosted every 4-6 weeks. If you’re interested in taking part please contact admissions@lucy.cam.ac.uk
