Lucy Cavendish College launches bursary for MSt Sustainability Leadership course
The new bursary, available to students starting in October 2022, is co-funded through donations to LucyGives 2020 and CISL
The widening access bursary and mobility fund will facilitate young people's access to higher education and promote academic mobility
Lucy Cavendish College’s mission is to attract, support and unlock the potential of students from non-traditional and underrepresented backgrounds who are driven by a desire to make a difference and who are committed to having a positive and lasting impact on society.
We are proud to be one of only 4 Cambridge colleges supported by Santander, through Santander Universities. Every year approximately 25 students from underrepresented backgrounds, either undergraduates or graduates, receive scholarships of up to £1000, to help them with living costs or support them in their first international experience through the Santander Universities widening access bursary and mobility fund.
Santander Universities supports students across 3 key areas: education, entrepreneurship and employability. Santander Universities has spent more than a decade collaborating with a large network of university partners to remove barriers to higher education for students whose ambitions aren’t always matched by their means.
Our Student Finance Coordinator Elaine Hendrie says: “The Santander Universities Awards have been key to enabling students and those from under-represented backgrounds to study with an acceptable level of financial resilience, at our college which does not have the privilege of an endowed fund. As a fund of last recourse it has been invaluable this year.”
Nadia Capatina, one of last year’s recipients comments: “As a result of funding from a Santander Universities Award, provided by the College, I will be able to carry out some experimental studies in the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience. I am now able to concentrate on my studies and keep my laboratory skills active, without having to be concerned about funding.”
