Virtual May Bumps are coming up on the 24th - 27th June

The Cambridge rowing community hasn’t been put off by the cancellation of the May Bumps and have been busy planning a virtual Bumps instead. There are three divisions: Men’s, women’s and alumni/staff.

Lucy Cavendish College is entering 2 boats so far (18 students) from the boat club itself. We also have 1 combined boat of 7 alumni and 2 members of staff running in their own boat category.

It’s a run instead of a row, with each team member (8 plus a cox, of course) running an 800m sprint as fast as possible. Times will then have to be entered to give an overall boat time, and bumps/row overs etc will be awarded based on these. As with bumps this will be once a day over 4 days. On the final day, there will also be a circuits competition; max reps of 4 circuit exercises, 2 minutes each plus a surprise finisher.

There will be a facebook page and website during the week, advertising fines, competitions, and prizes, and everything will be live on CamFM! https://www.virtualmaybumps.co.uk/

In addition, any proceeds, from fines or donations, will be given to East Anglia Childrens’ Hospice (EACH), who have launched an emergency appeal for the approximately £1.8milliion lost during the first three months of the pandemic.

Don’t miss it! Hope to “see” as many of you as possible soon, and watch out for the virtual boat club dinner too!
