Katharina is a NIHR Clinical Lecturer in the Division of Anaesthesia. Her research focuses on using electronic health data to investigate patients’ peri-operative journeys, in particular emergency surgical patients. The goal is to determine which factors – both at patient level and at hospital system level - influence complication rates and lead to increased resource needs. This work will allow us to better focus care improvement projects and lead to the development of predictive algorithms that allow for more effective surgical planning.

In addition to this, Katharina has an interested in global health and is involved with research into delivering trauma care in LMICs as part of the Cambridge NIHR Global Health Research Group in Neurotrauma.
