Laura's research focus throughout her career is to understand how genetic variation affects disease risk. The main aim of her current research is gaining insights in the biological functional consequence of Inflammatory Bowel Disease causal variants, and identifying common, as well as subtype-specific, biological mechanisms behind what causes Crohn’s disease (CD) and Ulcerative Colitis (UC). Gathering together the mechanism and the cells involved in the development of the disease will allow us to better understand what causes IBD.

Laura is at the Wellcome Sanger Institute.
