Lucy Cavendish has the benefit of an RLF Fellow to help undergraduate and post-graduate students (and staff) with writing.

Our RLF Fellow works exclusively with Lucy Cavendish members and is not available to other members of the University so take advantage of this benefit! All RLF Fellows are professional writers with many years of experience.  The Fellows can help with everything from details of grammar and style to structuring a long dissertation. Typically, the Fellow will look at a piece of writing and discuss any worries or problems, help with suggestions for restructuring, explain how to write in fluent, grammatically correct sentences and paragraphs, and how to increase the impact of a piece of writing. The Fellows aim to help students develop their writing skills and become good, independent writers. They do not offer an editing or proof-reading service, nor expert help with dyslexia or English for non-native speakers – though such students are welcome on the same basis as others. All sessions are 50 mins, one-to-one and completely confidential. The RLF Fellows are independent and will not share any details of students with the College.

The Lucy Cavendish College RLF Fellow for 2023/24 is Melissa Benn, freelance journalist and acclaimed author of seven works of nonfiction and two novels. Melissa will be available in College on Thursdays and Fridays. To make an appointment please email melissa.benn@rlfeducation.org.uk
