Moving somewhere new can be daunting, but Lucy is an informal college with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and you’ll feel at home here very quickly.
We invite all first year undergraduates to join us before the start of term for a Bridging Course designed to introduce you to College, Cambridge and life at university. During this period, you’ll meet your Director of Studies and Tutor and have a first ‘supervision’. There’ll be academic study skills sessions and introductions to the libraries and learning resources available in the College. There’ll be plenty of time to get to know your fellow students as well as free time for yourself.
The Officers of the College Students’ Union will be there to welcome you and will organise social events to help you meet other students and make your first friends at Lucy.
The Student Office will give you a registration pack - this is full of helpful information, and you can always pop in to see them with any questions.
Matriculation is where you will formally join the College and the University, and afterwards you will join the Fellows for a welcome ‘Formal Hall’ dinner.
The University Freshers' Fair takes place in the first week of term and is a great way to find out about all the clubs and societies you could join in the University.
Watch a video produced by the University with a few suggestions about settling in.
We realise that studying at Cambridge can be challenging, and are committed to doing all we can to support students during their time with us. For full details of what we can do to help you, please look at our Support and Wellbeing page.
