Exploring the Connection Between Writing and Visual Art – what can they offer one another?

Join us at Lucy Cavendish on Monday evenings from 5:45pm – 6:45pm from the 6th to the 27th October for a series of four engaging and playful creative writing workshops led by writer and Lucy alumna Joy McAlpine-Black. These sessions provide a space for learning, creativity and relaxation.

Inspired by the College’s portraits, each workshop will explore a different genre and experiment with writing that enables readers to see.

Joy brings a wealth of experience in both art and education. She holds a BA in Fine Art and Education from Cambridge, a Master’s in Museums and Galleries in Education from the University of London, and a Master’s in Creative Writing from Cambridge. Her career spans teaching, lecturing in Art and Education, museum education, and consultancy in creativity and learning for museums, libraries, and archives across Southeast England. She has a Certificate in Teaching Creative Writing from ICE (the Institute of Continuing Education, Cambridge).

Please arrive at the College by 5:30pm; drinks will be available for purchase at the café. The session will begin promptly at 5:45pm in the Reception Room, Warburton Hall. Participants are welcome to stay for supper, which can be purchased in the dining hall after the workshop. Parking is available at the College.

There are 12 places available, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Beginner writers are very welcome.

Come and discover how words and images can spark new perspectives!
