Who we are
Our Alumnae and Honorary Fellows include an Oscar Winning actor, award winning writers, politicians, the first female director of MI5 and an Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations. We will admit students of all genders, and aim for a roughly equal balance across the genders.
Our Postgrad community is well established: we currently have over 400 Postgrad students studying full- and part-time taught masters and research degrees in the sciences and arts, from over 60 countries across the world.
We have strong links with the Judge Business School and admit students for the MBA, EMBA, and part-time M.Sts in Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation. We also admit part-time students linked to the University’s Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) in Creative Writing, and Writing for Performance.
Our students are members of University sporting teams, orchestras and choral groups, societies, cultural and international groups, and volunteer within the University and local community. Diversity, widening participation and social change are at the heart of everything we do, and we seek to make a positive change to the world in which we live.
How we support you
New Postgrads are considered automatically, as part of their membership of Lucy Cavendish, for our studentships and awards, with priority given to students who make Lucy Cavendish their first choice. We forge relationships with University departments and external organisations who are able to offer funding, and our alumnae are keen to support our students through donations and bequests. We also have a number of students who are supported by the Cambridge Trusts and other University awards.
Our Postgrads all have access to a dedicated College Tutor who they can ask for support about non-academic issues.
We run a programme of sessions throughout the year specifically for Postgrads, such as academic and study skills programmes.
Careers and Enterprise
We also focus on the opportunities available to you after Cambridge: meet Bruno Cotta, a Fellow of Lucy Cavendish, and a Careers programme expert:

Abhik started an MPhil in Conservation Leadership as a member of Lucy Cavendish in October:
"Historically, Cambridge has held a Matriculation ceremony to mark your formal induction to the student body and membership to your college. It gives me extreme pleasure to be a part of Lucy Cavendish College, a college which exclusively admitted those who identified as female till last year. It feels significant, signing the register of students which contains the signatures of all who have gone before you in the college's rich history. The college community is extremely warm and welcoming. It promises to be a great year ahead and I hope to make enough memories to last a lifetime."
Accommodation
We aim to accommodate all Postgrads whose place is confirmed before the end of August, in dedicated Postgrad accommodation. We have a wide range of accommodation available, from studio flats and family accommodation, to rooms in shared student houses in key locations across the city.
Some of our most popular accommodation are our modern, spacious blocks at 100 Histon Road, which have large student common rooms and include apartments for couples and families. Mount Pleasant House is also popular with our Postgrads and has ensuite rooms, large kitchens, and self-contained studios.
