Michalis is a Consultant in Acute and General Internal Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology, and Lipidology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals. He is also an experienced Clinical Trialist, serving as Chief or Principal Investigator in Phase I clinical trials, including First-in-Human studies. Through a secondment, he is a Senior Clinical Trials Physician at the MHRA-accredited GlaxoSmithKline Clinical Unit Cambridge, where he has led numerous early-phase clinical trials and experimental medicine studies as Principal Investigator. In addition, he is a Cambridge NIHR BRC Consultant in Early Phase Clinical Trials.
His academic interests focus on cardiometabolic pharmacology and the prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Michalis has published more than 90 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. In recognition of his research contributions, he was awarded the title of Affiliated Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine, University of Cambridge. He is Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FFPM) and the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH).
