Rowers and alumni are getting together for 24 HOURS of rowing on the Erg machines.
Help Lucy Cavendish College Boat Club (LCCBC) raise money for (well-needed!) new equipment!
In a couple of weeks, from 6pm 9th May - 6pm 10th May, Lucy Cavendish College Boat Club will be doing a 24-HOUR Ergathon to raise money for the boat club. As you may know, the club regularly has to compete against boat clubs that get up to 90 times more funding than us. Membership - which is free at most colleges - and rowing-related purchases cost each rower around £100 a year. Despite our best efforts to reduce costs for our rowers, this sum can be unaffordable and may prevent potential members from making the most of the opportunity.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Hefferon Family, we recently built our well-used and much loved Hefferon suite, which has helped bridge the gap between LCCBC and other colleges that have boat houses. We are endlessly grateful for this first step, but we now turn to you for more help!
With your donations, we hope to make rowing more accessible to Lucy Cavendish students. We are aiming to row over 500km over the 24-hour period in order to raise our fundraising target of £5000. Every donation is greatly appreciated and will make a very tangible impact on the community we have forged at the Boat Club.
Feel free to add a request (i.e. 100m sprint for a £20 donation) in your submission! A genuine thank you in advance from everyone at LCCBC.
You can show your support to our students also donating to LucyGives: Forging Futures Together, a 60-hour fundraising campaign taking place from 8 AM (BST) on Friday 25 April to 8 PM (BST) on Sunday 27 April 2025, as part of Lucy Cavendish College’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
