Chris will play a key part in implementing the College’s fundraising strategy, with a particular focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

Lucy Cavendish College is delighted to welcome Dr Chris Whitaker, who joins the Development team today in the role of Development Officer (Special Projects).

Chris brings a wealth of experience in academic research, project development, and stakeholder engagement. Chris is no stranger to Lucy, having first coxed for the college in 2004 when he was here studying for his MPhil in Criminology.  He has worked in various disability roles over many years, and has recently graduated from Lucy with his Executive MBA this summer.

In his new role, he will play a key part in implementing the College’s fundraising strategy, with a particular focus on securing philanthropic support for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, areas that are central to Lucy Cavendish’s mission and values.

Chris’s work will help to strengthen the College’s commitment to inclusion and ensure that students have the opportunity to thrive at Cambridge.

During his time as a student at Lucy, Chris has shown how important it is to create an environment where inclusion and accessibility aren't just goals - they're part of our everyday culture. We are excited to have Chris on board to continue this vital work which will ensure that every talented individual has the opportunity to fulfil their potential at Lucy Cavendish, regardless of background or circumstance.

He said “I am delighted to be here in College as a member of staff. I am passionate about ensuring equity of access and provision for everyone and feel a deep sense of connection to the mission, vision, and values of Lucy.  I will work hard to ensure that Lucy continues to be at the forefront of making Cambridge accessible, and a safe space for all.
