Lucy Cavendish College extends its warmest congratulations to English Literature student Bea Wood for her recent outstanding achievements in athletics.

Earlier this month, Bea demonstrated exceptional form at the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) Athletics Championships in Manchester. She secured a commendable 4th place in a competitive 5000m final, a significant accomplishment against a field of experienced athletes.

Building on this success, Bea delivered a truly remarkable performance at the historic Oxford vs Cambridge Varsity Athletics match on Saturday, 17th May, held at Wilberforce Road, Cambridge. In an outstanding display of skill and endurance, she won the 5000m race.

Significantly, her victory was achieved in record-breaking time, surpassing the previous Varsity record by a 12 seconds. In recognition of her exceptional performance, she was also deservedly awarded Best Women's Performance of the Day.

Lucy Cavendish College is immensely proud of Bea Wood's dedication and her remarkable accomplishments on the track, which serve as an inspiration to the College community.
