Among the best Cambridge student bands, Wynn and Reece will battle it out for a spot on the Cambridge Club Festival mainstage.
‘Take it to the Bridge’ is the University of Cambridge’s battle of the bands competition, organised by The Centre for Music Performance providing a platform for student musicians to showcase their talents and compete for high-profile performance opportunities.
Among the finalists, Lucy Cavendish students, Wynn Tasker and Reece D'Souza are ready to rock out for a chance to perform alongside superstars like Chaka Khan and Jessie Ware at the Cambridge Club Festival.
Temor, featuring Wynn Tasker on drums, blends classic jazz with grooves, drawing inspiration from classical to Latin American music.
Quasar, with Reece D'Souza on vocals, brings a fresh mix of hip-hop and jazz to the competition. Their collaborative spirit, drawing talent from across six Cambridge colleges, promises an energetic and captivating performance.
Wynn says, "It's an honour to again be playing in this competition and have a chance to play on such a big stage. I'm wishing all bands performing the best of luck for what will be a really fun night."
Reece says, “I was so gassed to hear that Quasar had made it through to the finals, especially since we’re a Hip-Hop band with rappers, I never thought we’d be picked to compete with the Jazz and Pop student bands that are so common around Cambridge. Winning this competition would be so sick, not just for bragging rights but also to give Quasar the opportunity to put Hip-Hop and Rap music properly on the map at this Uni!”
These two Lucy Cavendish musicians, alongside their talented bandmates, will battle it out against East Street on a Tit and Soft Crunchy Landing for the coveted mainstage slot at the Cambridge Club Festival. The competition promises to be a night of intense musical energy, showcasing the very best of Cambridge's student talent.
