We're delighted you can take a look at our resources for the Maths and Physics for Engineering programme!

This webpage contains the following:

Our two video guides to Cambridge and Engineering at Cambridge

The link to the Isaac Physics exercises and accompanying explanation videos by Maria Kettle

A lecture on gyroscopes by Dr Hugh Hunt, which builds on the topic of rotational motion you've encountered in the Isaac Physics exercises.

Further extension exercises from i-want-to-study-engineering.org

The Zoom links to the two sessions on the 15th and 17th March

We recommend that you work through these exercises in order, starting with the introductory videos and ending with the final extension exercises. We have designed the programme so you learn more about applying to Engineering at Cambridge, and strengthen your underlying Maths and Physics knowledge. Do remember that Cambridge and other top universities are looking for students who have gone above and beyond the curriculum. These exercises are a great example of the exploration you can be doing. Strengthening your Maths and Physics skills will also be very useful for our admissions process, notably the Engineering Admissions Assessment and the interview.

We hope you really enjoy learning more about Cambridge, tackling the Isaac Physics exercises and coming along to our live sessions. We can't wait to see you soon! If you have any questions about any of the below then don't hesitate to contact us on outreach@lucy.cam.ac.uk

Introduction to Cambridge

In this video our Outreach Officer Caitlin Law provides an introduction to the University of Cambridge. This video is probably best watched before the next one so you're up to speed with the basics.

Engineering at Cambridge

Watch Dr John Durrell, Director of Admissions in Engineering at the University, provide a comprehensive overview of how the Engineering course at Cambridge works. Dr Durrell also provides key information on the application process

Isaacs Physics problems

Here is the list of problems tackled in the Isaac Physics exercises, as well as accompanying links to useful support resources. Please remember to scroll to the second page!

Video explainers of the Isaac Physics exercises

Here Maria Kettle, the Department of Engineering's Outreach Officer, walks you through each of the Isaac Physics exercises in a series of handy videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLy9OigUeJucQM1IVARiv13iR27ihU-VPw

Dr Hugh Hunt's lecture on gyroscopes

Now you've worked through the exercises you're ready for the gyroscopes lecture!

Extension exercises

These extension exercises come from an excellent website for preparing an application to Engineering: https://i-want-to-study-engineering.org/. Have a go at them to really extend your knowledge of the Maths and Physics you've been developing through the other resources.
