Tell us about you!
I am thrilled to be a part of the Lucy community, having joined the College in September 2023. During the pandemic, we decided to move closer to family in Cambridge. Thankfully, the amazing opportunity at Lucy arose, and I haven't looked back. Prior to this, my career spanned consultancy, partnerships, sponsorships, and events management, predominantly in the hospitality and travel industries, and I’m enjoying rediscovering my hometown (with my husband and three children in tow!) while relishing the challenge of a new sector and role.
What does your role at Lucy involve?
As the Alumni Relations and Events Manager, I wear many hats. I oversee the alumni relations and events strategy for the College. This means organising a wide range of events, building strong bonds with our alumni community, and constantly seeking innovative ways to keep our ever-growing global network (spanning over 100 countries!) engaged.
What’s the best thing about your job?
The human connections are what truly make my job special. Immersing myself in the vibrant tapestry of our alumni and student community is endlessly fascinating. Their stories, diverse backgrounds, and journeys captivate me, and I'm constantly inspired by the resilience, ingenuity, and passion they exude.
Seeing alumni return to Lucy, their faces alight with nostalgia as they relive cherished memories and reconnect with old friends, is heartening and witnessing them leverage their Lucy network to build fulfilling careers and make impactful contributions to the world is wonderful.
Beyond these interactions, what truly ignites my passion is Lucy's mission and ethos. Working alongside such dedicated and passionate colleagues and connecting with inspiring alumni who proudly champion Lucy's values, is an immense privilege.
Anything interesting you are working on at the moment, or you will be soon?
I am currently working on an ambitious Alumni Relations Strategy, which includes some exciting new events and more opportunities for alumni to get involved, so please stay tuned.
One key project is launching more regional alumni groups and organising local meet-ups, to foster networking and connections within the alumni community. We're eager to reach and meet more of you in 2024!
