Post

Post which arrives via all external postal services and the University's internal mail system (UMS) is sorted by the Porters and placed into student pigeonholes in the Porters' Lodge.  We recommend that pigeonholes are checked daily and certainly at least three times per week.  Post is not forwarded to College members living elsewhere in Cambridge.  Students can place personal post, with a postal fee affixed, in an out-tray in the Porters Lodge for collection at the end of each day by our external courier, Mailability, which feeds into the Royal Mail postal system.  Post for University departments and other colleges can be sent by UMS, for a small charge, for which there is an out-tray in our Porters' Lodge.

If a student has been given permission to work away from College, or if they will be away during the Long, Easter, or Christmas Vacations, and they wish their post to be forwarded they must make arrangements with the Porters Lodge before they leave Cambridge. When a student returns to Cambridge they must let the Porters' Lodge know so that their pigeonhole can be reactivated and mail forwarding ceased.  When a student graduates or leaves the College our Porters Lodge, by prior arrangement, can forward post for three months, after which mail will be returned to sender.

If you are living in College accommodation, your mail must ONLY be addressed to:

Lucy Cavendish College

Lady Margaret Road

Cambridge

CB3 0BU

(do NOT use the name of the building you are staying in).

Email

Lucy Cavendish has an email circulation list which can be used by our current students to contact other Lucy Cavendish students as a group, for example if you are advertising a club, society or event, wish to borrow a book, or sell an item. The email circulation list is lcc-su@lists.cam.ac.uk. Postings are moderated by the Lucy Cavendish Students' Union in case the list is subject to unacceptable traffic, which is held back if necessary. Students can ask to be removed from the lcc-su mailing list if they do not wish to receive emails from this list by contacting the Tutorial Office.

The College also has two email circulation lists which are for office use only, split between undergraduates and graduates. You should expect to receive a moderate number of notifications and invitations, for example, via these lists and membership is compulsory to ensure essential information is received by all Lucy Cavendish students.
