Cambridge University launches Handshake, an innovative new career development platform

As of today, Cambridge students, postdocs and recent alumni will be able to access Handshake Cambridge: a platform through which they can book appointments with careers advisers, register for careers events, and access a rich variety of resources.

They will also be able to tap into Handshake’s core jobs board and networking through their own personalised profile; ask questions of fellow students who’ve worked in places they’re interested in; and leave reviews of organisations they’ve interned/worked for.

Handshake Cambridge will ensure the Careers Service’s clients receive a tailored stream of communications based on sectors they’re interested in, their subject of study and areas of the site they’ve most recently explored.

With access to Handshake complementing the Careers Service’s rich existing portfolio of guidance, resources, networking opportunities and market intelligence, clients will be able to take ever more meaningful steps towards their future careers.

Jenny Blakesley, Director of the Careers Service, comments:

“We know just how important access to personalised careers support and development is -especially in a rapidly evolving labour market. Our team of dedicated careers professionals understand the experiences, opportunities and challenges that are unique to Cambridge. Working with Handshake will allow clients to tap into that expertise quickly and easily, but will also connect them to a global network of job opportunities and peer-to-peer information. We’re committed to working with our clients to prepare for their future.”
