Thanks to funds raised during LucyGives Giving week, the College is able to support students embarking on the highly interdisciplinary MBE

During our LucyGives Giving week, back in October 2020, alumnae, students, Fellows, staff and friends came together to raise funds to support Lucy’s renewed mission to boost social mobility, tackle global issues, and create a real movement for change at Cambridge.

Today, Lucy Cavendish College is delighted to be able to offer a £12,000 studentship (or two £6,000 studentships) for students on the highly interdisciplinary Master’s in Bioscience Enterprise programme for the 2021-22 academic year at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology.

Studentships help attract the world’s brightest minds by alleviating the financial pressures of tuition fees and accommodation and living costs and this is a life-changing opportunity for students who would have otherwise faced severe barriers to studying at Cambridge.

The MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise (MBE) embraces an interdisciplinary focus, providing a vital opportunity for those with an interest in enterprise and the ambition to found technology companies or take up leadership, executive or consultancy roles in the life sciences sector.

Lucy Cavendish and the MBE joint objective is enabling those with exceptional talent and a motivation to take an interdisciplinary approach to tackle global issues in national and international contexts.

Dr Seamus Higson, the Master's in Bioscience Enterprise programme manager said: “The Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology are thrilled by the offer by Lucy Cavendish College of such a generous studentship for the Master's in Enterprise programme which will provide a life changing opportunity for either one or two students to study on this prestigious programme.”
