Nazeehah was announced the winner for her inspiring work to empower women and girls by making the justice system a more even and fair process.

The Alumni Impact Award is for Lucy Cavendish College alumni who have made a significant impact in their field in the last ten years, in relation to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The winner of the 2023 Alumni Impact award, announced at the Alumni Festival and voted by the Lucy community, was Nazeehah Khan for her inspiring work aimed at empowering sexual/domestic violence survivors by making the justice system a more even and fair process, closing the gaps that put women in danger, and preventing further violence, propelling forward state, national, and global gender equality.

She received the award together with a £500 prize.

Nazeehah Khan, currently a Policy Manager with a civil rights organisation, is the Founder of Restraining Orders Without Borders (ROWB), and a 2018 Lucy Cavendish College graduate with an MPhil in International Politics and Relations.

Founded 8 months ago, ROWB is a federal/state campaign advocating for the right to restraining orders regardless of residency status for 25 million sexual/domestic violence survivors in North America.

At her day job as a Policy Manager, Nazeehah researches, writes, and advocates for legislation like the anti-caste bill which has triggered a global conversation on caste. They also work on policies that allow state employees to request time off for cultural holidays and ensure hijabs for those incarcerated.

Charlotte Akers Dunphy was announced as runner-up for her important work on sustainability, having helped build and develop Earthed (www.earthed.co), a membership-based learning platform enabling access to on-demand courses in ecosystem restoration and regenerative agriculture.
